How to turn off iOS's fertility tracking features.
- Apple is brimming with security and health features.
- Regarding their function and usage, several of them are revolutionary.
- One of these is temperature sensing, a ground-breaking feature for women.
With the release of iOS 13 and watchOS 6, Apple added the Cycle Tracking feature, which was subsequently enhanced with subsequent operating system upgrades. Women who use this feature to track their menstrual cycles can better understand their general health and develop a stronger connection to their bodies.
Despite the advantages of tracking menstrual cycles, Apple cautions users not to use it as a method of birth control or to identify certain medical concerns with the use of the feature's data.
Based on temperature information, Apple retroactively estimates ovulation. The most likely day of ovulation can be predicted using wrist temperature data when ovulation has already occurred using devices like the Apple Watch Series 8 or Apple Watch Ultra, which can improve period forecasts. The ability to use these functionalities requires certain devices, of course.
Ovulation estimates are only guesses and do not reflect proof that ovulation has occurred. They function quite similarly to ovulation-tracking log apps. Furthermore, some customers might be unwilling to share this information with their Apple devices, and that is absolutely acceptable because the feature can be turned off.
(A) To stop wrist temperature readings
On your iPhone, open the Health app and select Cycle Tracking.Tap Options to access the options menu, which is located just below the Cycle Log header.
Turn off the Use Wrist Temperature toggle by scrolling down to Watch Data. If you don't want to share any biometric information, you can also decide to turn the Use Heart Rate toggle off.
Additionally, you can perform this action using your Watch by going to Settings > Cycle Tracking > Use Wrist Temperature / Use Heart Rate.
(B) To stop fertility monitoring
Not all fertility tracking tools in the Health app are necessary disabled when the wrist temperature features are turned off. It simply means that your biometric information won't be saved or used to forecast fertile windows. The Health app can still use your data to anticipate your reproductive window and estimate ovulation if fertility tracking is still enabled, but the results won't be as precise.
To totally stop using fertility tracking:
Go to Cycle Tracking > Options in the Health app once it has been opened.
Tap the Fertility Window Estimates toggle after scrolling down to Fertility Tracking.
Another function that Apple has included is Cycle Deviation Detection. When activated, it alerts users if their periods are irregular, infrequent, or extended. If persistent spotting is found, it will also let you know.
Open the Health app and go to Cycle Tracking > Options to turn off Cycle Deviation Detection. Tap Cycle Deviation Detection under Period Tracking.
For irregular periods, infrequent periods, lengthy periods, and persistent spotting, you should notice four toggles. Turn off each of these.
